Surf science, built by hand — performance by design, not by chance.
After several years building structural components for catamarans in Cape Town, I returned to the Eastern Cape in 2005 and shifted into advanced composites for the aero, yacht, and motorsport industries. Soon after, engineers from the CSIR approached me to design and fabricate composite fans for heavy industry — technology that translated directly into surfboard fins. With a background in physics, I moved prototypes from concept to surf-tested reality, and by 2006 fins were already in the water.
That same year, I started a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy under Master Roberto Atalla, establishing the Port Elizabeth branch of the Rio Grappling Club. The bonobo skull logo originates from that academy, symbolizing the balance of strength and control — the same philosophy behind every fin we build.
The website was set up to showcase some of the more recent and popular designs.
It’s a small line with an emphasis on energy efficiency and early engagements in turns.
